Minneapolis band Ancient Waves to perform at Cedar Lounge this weekend
SUPERIOR, Wis. (Northern News Now) - Ancient Waves, a band that blends sounds of folk and alternative, is heading to Cedar Lounge on March 29 to perform for the Twin Ports.
Ancient Waves is a four piece band and was formed in 2019. Before they landed on the current band name, they were first called Featherbed and then called Jarad Miles & the Ancient Waves.
However, not too long after the band formed, the pandemic hit and put a halt on their project, as they were set to record their album in March 2020.
Jarad Miles, the lead singer, song writer and guitarist, said that it was a blessing in disguise.
“Now we’re making that same record five years later,” he said. “We’ve gotten new songs; we’ve gotten better as musicians and gotten better on the production and technical level.”
Now, they get to show their art to people of the Twin Ports.
Miles said that songwriting is important to his craft.
“I grew up listening to songwriter, country music,” he said. “So, it’s about the story.”
He said that people who enjoy the works of artists like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams will probably enjoy the music.
“Stories and lyrics,” he said. “If you like emotions, words and thoughts combined with rock n’ roll, I think that’s where we’re at.”
He also said that anyone who likes music can find something in it and can tap their foot.
Duluth singer-songwriter Sophie Hiroko will open for the band.
