Alex Pretti’s family demands justice for son shot and killed by ICE agent in Minneapolis
Minnesota attorney general says his office is working on the case as family demands justice
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Alex Pretti’s family spoke to the media Tuesday for the first time since their son was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.

What happened Jan. 24
The shooting happened Jan. 24, while Pretti was protesting the death of Renee Good. Good was also fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis weeks earlier.
DHS initially claimed Pretti, a 37-year-old nurse, was armed and violent toward agents. Eyewitness videos that went viral did not show evidence of him holding a weapon while he was being detained.
The videos show Pretti helping a woman who was shoved to the ground by an agent. They show him being shot while on the ground with his back to the agents.

Family demands justice
Pretti’s family demanded justice for their son Tuesday.
“The federal government went on TV and lied about Alex. They tried to slander his memory to cover up their crime. Not only was it wrong, but it was shameful, unfair and unacceptable. We want to clear our son’s name. We want the world to understand who Alex really was. We want our son’s killers brought to justice once and for all,” said Susan Pretti, Alex’s mother.
Attorney general comments on case
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, a Democrat, said his office is working on the case every day.
“We are in litigation with the federal government right now to secure the rest of the remaining file, which they could give us this morning if they were inclined to do so. But it looks like we’re going to need a court order. I’m sorry that it comes to that,” Ellison said.
