DULUTH, MN. - The Duluth Salvation Army has announced they will be closing their Thrift Store located at 2101 W Superior St.

The organization made that announcement Tuesday on their Facebook page.

According to the post, the purpose of the thrift store was always to generate funds to support programming at the Corps, but because of pandemic-related circumstances, the store has required significant Corps funding to sustain operations.

“Our hearts are heavy as we come to the end of an era of Salvation Army Thrift Stores in Duluth. But as we look to the future, we have decided that stewardship of the Corps’ resources by expanding our programs and services to our neighbors, especially those with unmet housing needs, is the greater priority,” said Corps Officer Captain Teri Ellison.

The Salvation Army will continue its other services offered to the community outside of the store.

The thrift store will stop accepting donations on Friday, April 29, and is set to close by the end of July.
