Rarick launches re-election bid for Minnesota Senate District 11
PINE CITY, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Republican State Sen. Jason Rarick announced Friday that he is seeking reelection to the Minnesota State Senate, representing District 11.
District 11 includes parts of Carlton, Kanabec, Pine, Chisago and St. Louis counties.
Rarick was first elected to the seat in 2016.
Rarick said his campaign will focus on lowering taxes, ending fraud, strengthening schools, and prioritizing Minnesotans over special interests.
He criticized recent state leadership, citing rising costs and budget concerns, and said he would continue pushing for accountability and what he called common-sense solutions.
Rarick was raised in Pine City, Minnesota, where he still lives on his family farm. He is a member of IBEW Local 110.
Wednesday, a DFL’er emerged with plans to challenge Rarick.
Mary Carlson is the Wrenshall School Board chair and founded an event and designing company.
The District 11 seat will be on the November ballot.
If more candidates enter the race before the filing period ends, that could trigger a primary election in August.
