High school teacher resigns after creating inappropriate AI images of other staff members, district says
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU/Gray News) — A high school teacher in Wisconsin has resigned after creating inappropriate AI images of other school district staff members, documents show.
Documents from the Eau Claire Area School District’s board meeting on Monday identified the teacher as Benjamin Gilbert.
He worked as a special education teacher at North High School.
On May 7, North High School sent families a message saying it received a report that a staff member had generated inappropriate AI images of school staff members on a personal computer.
The district said the investigation suggested no student images were involved.
The letter to families said the staff member was placed on unpaid administrative leave and later resigned.
The incident is being investigated by the Eau Claire Police Department. As of Tuesday afternoon, no charges have been filed.
