PHILADELPHIA (Gray News) - A business owner is trying to figure out why her company received 600 tubs of French onion dip.

The Mac Mart, a food stand in Philadelphia, received a shipment containing 600 tubs of Heluva Good French onion dip, according to WPVI.

Owner Marti Lieberman shared the story on Instagram.

“I have a bit of a funny story I need to share with you right away because we are in a little bit of a French onion pickle,” Lieberman said.

Lieberman said she had gotten a suspicious email from Australia offering to send her business 50 to 100 cases of French onion dip.

While the email did not appear strange at first, Lieberman said as things progressed, there were a lot of “red flags.”

Lieberman ultimately responded, saying she would take a sample to see if it would be a good fit, but then blocked the email address.

On Thursday, a delivery driver arrived at her food stand with the delivery.

After sharing the story on Instagram, Heluva Good reached out to her, saying it did not know where the dip came from but was doing an internal investigation.

Heluva Good learned that the tubs likely came from a third party who had to get rid of the product.

Lieberman said Heluva Good has been “nothing but cooperative and helpful” in this situation.

Ultimately, Lieberman decided to throw away all 600 containers of French onion dip because she did not know “the product’s origin, the handling process, or the intended use of the shipment.”
