Man dies after 100-foot fall in Douglas County

LAKE NEBAGAMON, Wis. - A man died after he fell 100 feet from a tower he was working on Monday in Douglas County.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said, around 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, first responders were dispatched to Industrial Park Rd. in the Village of Lake Nebagamon for reports of a man who had fallen about 100 feet from a tower.

Upon arrival, crews found the man and began CPR and AED efforts.

The victim, who was identified as Gere Walden of South Carolina, died at the scene.

Walden was employed by Cross Communications and was in the area with his associates performing tower work, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Walden was wearing a climbing harness at the time of the fall.

The incident is still under investigation.
