Bentleyville lights up Duluth for its 22nd year
DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Crowds gathered for the Bentleyville Tour of Lights’ 22nd opening night at Bayfront Festival Park Saturday.
Before the 6 million lights turned on, Santa and Mrs. Claus made their entrance via helicopter.
The public heard from Mayor Roger Reinert and the creator of Bentleyville, Nathan Bentley.
A ten-second countdown led to the lighting of the beloved Bentleyville tree, and the public dispersed to enjoy hot chocolate, cookies, and the iconic light show.
For some, Bentleyville is in their backyard; however, others travelled across the state to Bayfront Festival Park to experience opening night.
“I mean, it’s got everything,” said Anoka resident Elizabeth Montik. “It’s got the people, the Minnesota nice. You ask anybody here for a photo, they’ll take it. It’s the biggest show we have here.”
Bentleyville is open Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 10 p.m. It will be lit up for the season until December 27.
