Wisconsin orchard kicks off fall season with Apple Palooza in Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Dixon’s Apple Orchard might be located near Eau Claire, Wisconsin, but they’re raising a toast to harvest season with their unique champagne apple in Duluth.
The orchard is hosting their 4th annual Duluth Apple Palooza Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27 and 28.
There will be live music, hayrides, food trucks, craft vendors and apples.
The Dixon’s Champagne Apple is one of their own variants.
“They are only grown by us and they are very special,” said Becky Mullane, owner of Dixon’s Apple Orchard. “The Champagne Apple is sweet and spicy. It was a really good, firm texture. Very juicy of course.”
Mullane’s grandfather started growing the apple in New Mexico. After a while, they were able to bring it to the Midwest.
However, the event will also have Honeycrisps and apple cider.
Duluth Apple Palooza takes place at Beaver River Farm.
On Saturday, doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.
On Sunday, doors open at noon and close at 4 p.m.
The event is free to attend.
