Laura Lee

With more than a decade of television news experience, Laura Lee joins the Northern News Now team in 2023 as a 6 and 10 evening anchor.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Laura takes pride in sharing the stories and the unique culture of Minnesota. She loves meeting and connecting with people and sharing stories that make a difference. Her work has led to changes with firefighter safety and resulted with state and federal legislation. She spent years working with firefighters and lawmakers to highlight concerns about firefighter cancer. It’s why she was honored with the opportunity to cut the ribbon when the fire department she featured, opened a new fire station with updated safety equipment and gear.

She also profiled more than a dozen families from a small Minnesota town with pediatric cancer cases and took their concerns to the Minnesota Department of Health.

She is also not afraid to ask the tough questions including her work to investigate the then unconstitutional release plan of the Minnesota Sex Offender Program based in Moose Lake.

Before joining Northern News Now she worked for ABC 6 News in Rochester, MN for 13 years and KSTP in the Twin Cities as part of the production team.

She graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of St. Thomas and was featured as a Communications and Journalism Alumna. Laura gives back any chance she can and has dedicated years of volunteering and support with the Journalism Department at St. Thomas helping to teach and mentor the next generation of journalists.

Outside of work, Laura is just “Mom” to her four amazing kids. As a family, the love exploring all of the beauty Minnesota has to offer.
