Alexis Beckett joined the Northern News Now sports team in October of 2022.
She was born in Philadelphia and raised in the Philly suburbs.
Alexis decided she was going to be in sports broadcasting when she was 12 years old and got started early on with her high school news show. She stayed local for college and went to Temple University in North Philadelphia, where she majored in media studies and production with a minor in journalism.
During her time at Temple, Alexis was a sports anchor and reporter for the school's news station throughout her four years, spending all of her time at Lincoln Financial and the Liacouras Center. This is when she found her love for telling the stories of athletes beyond their sport and making sure their voices are heard.
Alexis interned throughout the entirety of her college career with Temple Football, NFL Films, and ESPN. During her internships, she was able to cover professional sports all over the country.
During her time at college, Alexis also worked as a freelance reporter covering basketball all over the tri-state area, including The Brotherly Love Pro-Am league in Philadelphia.
Alexis spent most of her life as a competitive cheerleader and grew up in a house where ESPN never left the television screen. She is a Philly sports fan except for football. When it comes to the NFL... it's #FinsUp!
