HIBBING, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A Hibbing man has been sentenced to 46 months in prison in connection with two separate criminal cases in St. Louis County.

Michael Todd Hart, 41, was sentenced Thursday in St. Louis County District Court in Virginia on convictions for felony first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling, misdemeanor fifth-degree assault and gross misdemeanor violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order, according to St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki.

Prosecutors said Hart broke into a residence and assaulted two people inside. Hart was shot in the abdomen during the break-in.

In a separate case, Hart was found with a person who had an active domestic abuse no-contact order against him.

Hart also has a pending case tied to his alleged escape from the Northeast Regional Corrections Center in fall 2025. A plea hearing in that case is scheduled for 10 a.m. June 22 in state district court in Duluth. Hart is expected to appear remotely from prison.
