SUPERIOR, Wis. (Northern News Now) - Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers kicked off National Travel and Tourism Week in Superior touting the state’s booming $25 billion industry.

He was at Pattison State Park, home to the tallest waterfall in the state, as part of his statewide tour.

Evers’ Executive Budget proposal invests nearly $34 million for the Department of Tourism to continue promoting Wisconsin’s recreational and cultural attractions.

Additionally, his budget includes significant investments in Wisconsin’s State Park System.

“At the end of the day it’s really important to keep them up to date, they get a lot of use, and we want to make sure they continue to stay as beautiful as they are,” Gov. Evers said.

Last year, Wisconsin’s tourism industry saw an increase of 5.4% from the previous year and welcomed 113 million visitors.
