SUPERIOR, Wis. - For the first time, Superior’s swimming pool will have a new name. Starting this school year, the pool will now be known as the Happy Tails Spartan Natatorium. Happy Tails Animal Hospital and the school district have agreed to a 10-year deal for the name through 2033. Through the partnership, the school was able to install new high-quality timing pads, live streaming equipment, and more. Spartan Manufacturing students made a new sign displaying the name change.

ITASCA COUNTY - The “Practical Water Wisdom” virtual learning series is hosted on the first Thursday of every month. The hour-long program starts at noon. September’s free event will be “Changing Water Quality in Itasca County Lakes.” Presenting will be Dr. Jack Jones, an adjunct professor at Minnesota Sea Grant and a long-time member of the Deer Lake Association. He will discuss declining water quality and changes in algae and plant life in area waters.

TOWER, Minn. - The Tower-Soudan Historical Society will be hosting a History Talks on Main Street event at 2 p.m. Wednesday’s speaker might be a familiar face, our own Dave Anderson will be discussing the Vermilion Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla. The event will be held at the Herbert Lamppa Civic Center in Tower and tickets are $5.
