Recovery Alliance Duluth holds Walk for Recovery Saturday
DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - September is National Recovery Month.
In the Northland, Recovery Alliance Duluth held a special event Saturday to raise awareness about recovery.
The alliance held its 5th annual Walk for Recovery.
Walkers gathered at Leif Erikson Park starting at 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Organizers say in addition to the walk, attendees could take part in fun festivities including a bounce house, face painting, live music, and even free food.
Beth Elstad is Co-Founder and Executive Director of Recovery Alliance Duluth.
She said the alliance provides peer-based services to help people battling addiction.
“By peer-based, I mean all of our folks have a shared experience in recovery and they are trained to work with people. Meeting them where they’re at, supporting them in their individualized journey. It’s a non-clinical, voluntary and free service,” said Elstad.
The alliance has several events planned throughout September including a night out on the Iron Range next Tuesday.
