DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - This past Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings hit the field for the first time this season and joining them on the field for the first time this year was Northland native, Karlyn Nessa.

Karlyn made her regular season debut this past Sunday at US Bank Stadium as a Minnesota Vikings cheerleader. She is a 2019 graduate of Hermantown High School and went on to cheer at the University of St. Thomas as well where she graduated this year. Karlyn tried out for the Vikings cheerleading squad after being a dancer ever since she was two years old. She made the team in may, and got to live out her dream Sunday as a Vikings cheerleader.

Nessa said, “It was insane! It was so loud but the energy in the building kept me going the whole time. It is hard, it is a lot being out there, it gets tiring, just the energy of the fans and the game that was going on was incredible and just being alongside my teammates too, it was an awesome day. I also wanted to soak it in, I had already had that preseason game and I kind of knew what was going on and what to expect. This time around I wanted to look around a little bit more, take it all in and it definitely hit me this time that oh my gosh I’m a Minnesota Vikings cheerleader, so it was super cool.”

Karlyn thanks her parents for her success as they helped her to get to this point as a dancer.
