Farmer Doug’s pumpkin patch opens this weekend, great pumpkin harvest this year
DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - It’s that time of year for pumpkins and despite some big weather fluctuations this summer, pumpkin harvest is expected to be good this year.
One common pumpkin patch is located at Farmer Doug’s just outside of Duluth and despite the rain, they still opened to the public on Friday, September 16th.
Farmer Doug Hoffbauer grows a variety of different pumpkins ranging in size and color, as well as other vegetables like squash and peppers.
Some of his bigger pumpkins weigh more than 75 pounds!
When compared to last year, Hoffbauer said he’s not worried about running out.
“Actually we probably have more pumpkins than last year because we added another patch down there. I think we are better off than we were last year for numbers. We are hoping the weather will cooperate,” said Farmer Doug.
Farmer Doug’s has about 1,000 pumpkins ready and you can pick up your own to take home.
The pumpkin patch will be open for the next three weekends ending on October 2nd.
