DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - For the UMD women’s volleyball team the numbers have been writing themselves. Number ten in the country, 10-0 overall, and they’re finally home. The lady Bulldogs have made quite a bit of noise ahead of this weekend’s home opener.

While UMD still has a long way to go in their NSIC slate, offensively things have been clicking on all cylinders. They currently sit at 3rd in the nation for kills per set with 14.78 and 10th in hitting percentage at .281. Head coach Jim Boos says they need to continue to work on limiting their errors and staying in system as they welcome in two new conference opponents with Minnesota-Moorhead and Northern State.

Coach Boos said, “I’m good with the aggressive errors. I want our attackers to take big swings, but there are moments when we know our feet aren’t there, we’re trying to just keep the ball in play. Those are the errors we want to start to limit here as we start to get into the grind of playing a lot of ranked teams in our conference.”

“To have hitters everywhere and knowing not only can the hitters hit it, but they can execute, they can terminate and they can get kills. Also knowing that because of that, the block will be more spread out and that’s going to give more one-on-one opportunities for me as well as everybody else,” adds Selbitschka.

The first serve against the Dragons is in Romano on Friday night at 6 on the MY9 network.

The Bulldogs will turn around and play the Wolves on Saturday afternoon at 2 to complete their weekend series.
