Jury deliberating in Iron Range cold case murder trial
HIBBING, MN -- The jury is now deliberating in an Iron Range cold case murder trial.
Michael Carbo Jr., now 54, is charged with both first and second-degree murder in Nancy Daugherty’s death.
He’s accused of beating the 38-year-old and then sexually assaulting and strangling her in the 1980s.
While the case went without answers for several decades, two years ago, authorities say new DNA technology helped connect Carbo to the crime.
The defense and prosecution both rested their cases Monday, giving the jury an opportunity to begin discussions Monday night.
They are back in the deliberation room Tuesday morning and could reach a verdict by the end of the day.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
