Izzard elected Douglas County Sheriff
SUPERIOR, WI -- Douglas County voters have chosen Matt Izzard to be their next sheriff.
Izzard won Tuesday’s election with 62 percent of the vote over Brian Witt and Mark Liebaert.
Since there were only democrats on the ballot, the top vote getter earned the position.
Current Douglas County Sheriff Tom Dalbec decided not to seek re-election after 20 years as sheriff.
Izzard has worked in the Sheriff’s Office since 2003 serving under Dalbec.
He would like to see more deputies involved in schools.
When it comes to gun violence, Izzard would like to see tougher penalties for offenders.
Izzard is a professor and graduate of Northwood Technical College, formerly WITC, and has been a SWAT team member while at the Sherriff’s Office that is what he believes sets him apart from the other candidates.
