Minnesota- Hunters who entered the bear hunting lottery, should see if they were selected. The deadline to purchase a license is Monday, August 1. Then if there are any surplus licenses, those will go on sale on August 4. Bear season begins September 1. Officials are reminding hunters to submit a tooth sample from the bear so the state can track and manage the population.
Grand Rapids, MN- More volunteers are needed to help with transportation. ElderCircle, a nonprofit that helps older adults maintain their independence, is in need of more drivers for their Assisted Transportation program. This program helps ensure people can access essential services such as medical care. Volunteer drivers are reimbursed at the current IRS rate.
La Pointe, WI- The Town of La Pointe will hold a dedication celebration for its new “Gateway to Madeline Island” public sculpture. It depicts a white crane rising from the red earth, representing the strong connections to Madeline Island that many cultures have maintained over time. It was designed by a member of the Red Cliff Band who resides in Two Harbors. The formal dedication is on Saturday, July 30, at 2 p.m. at Russell Park.
