City by City: Hibbing, Ely, Duluth
Hibbing, MN - Several local entities want to hear from the community as they consider creating a rental licensing code. Renters and Landlords are invited to fill out a survey the city, fire department, police department and HRA of Hibbing are using to gather information. Those groups hope to use this survey to help create a way to hold both tenants and landlords accountable while also addressing their needs. The survey is available through August 18 online or in person at the library
Ely, MN - Seats have opened on Ely’s School Board. Three seats are open in the regular election with one seat being held in a Special Election. Three four-year terms and one two-year term are on the ballot. The period to file for all seats begins August 2, and closes August 16. To be a candidate you must be an eligible voter, 21 years of age and have lived in the school district for 30 days. Both elections will be held on November 8.
Duluth, MN - The St. Louis County Historical Society is looking for volunteers to be attendants at the Lake Superior Ojibwe Gallery at the Depot. Attendants will be given training so they can inform visitors on the art, history and cultural impact of the exhibit as well as the Society’s relationship with regional tribal entities.
