DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - Hundreds of classic rock fans went to Bayfront Festival Park Sunday.

Hairball, a rock group that performs classic songs from bands like KISS and Van Halen, played for fans like Paige Sanders.

“The crowd has a lot of energy and I just think it’s kind of cool to hear all the hits that everybody kind of grew up on,” Sanders said.

Fans, new, like Sanders, and old, visited Bayfront throughout the day.

“I’ve heard a lot of these songs growing up because they’re classic hits but you get into it the more you hear groups like this,” she said.

The rock group has given people the chance to let loose on the weekends.

Several fans were wearing shirts showing their favorite band, including Sanders.

“I really like the energy of the crowd,” she said, “I feel like it’s just a really cool opportunity to kind of experience something different, go out, have fun, get dressed up.”

Amidst the head-banging fans were several different local vendors.

One of those vendors was Superior Creations Custom Tumblers.

“I’m a social worker during the week for a non-profit and do this on the weekend for my fun...for my stress relief,” Rebecca Johnson, the owner of the company, said.

She went out to the concerts to help boost her business and increase name recognition.

“Everybody’s carrying around the two beers and they realized they can dump two of them in one of the tumblers,” Johnson said, “so a lot of people were buying them for easier carrying purposes.”

She said that they’ve had to scale up their business at Bayfront.

“This is the first time we did a bigger tent,” Johnson said.

Most concertgoers, however, came for one thing, in particular, the music.
