Do you enjoy bird watching? Researchers need your help this summer

TWIN PORTS-- Audubon Great Lakes and the Natural Resources Research Institute need bird watchers this summer.

The public is encouraged to visit birding hotspots in the Estuary to record the birds that they see or hear on eBird, an online database of bird observations.

The observations will contribute to Audubon Great Lakes, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and NRRI’s work to understand how birds use the area.

Additionally will help inform future restoration projects across the region.

It’s breeding season, which researchers say is the best time to find dozens of species of warblers, several species of thrushes, flycatchers, vireos, and more species that rely on the north woods and the Estuary to hatch and raise their young.

They’re asking people to visit places like Boy Scout Landing in Duluth or Superior’s Allouez Bay.

Participants can enter data into ebird by either downloading the app or going online.
