Book lovers to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day in Duluth Saturday
DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - For all the book lovers out there, Saturday is a reason to celebrate.
April 30 is Independent Bookstore Day.
The national day celebrates independent bookstores across the country, and Duluth’s very own The Bookstore at Fitger’s is hosting an event to honor it.
The Bookstore at Fitger’s is located at 600 East Superior St. in Duluth.
Customers will be greeted at the door with treats and balloons and can pick up a book bingo card.
There is also a scavenger hunt, book signings, and a writer’s workshop.
Author Rob Jung will be there from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. signing his most recent book.
“There’s a lot going on,” Jung said. “Busy, busy place.”
Jung was formerly a sports reporter with the Duluth News Tribune and now works as a lawyer and author in Minneapolis.
“Right now I’m mostly writing books, and I have this one to introduce to the readers of Duluth tomorrow,” he said.
Jung’s most recent book is called The Sower, and it’s the second in a series.
“It’s a story about a cold-case murder,” he said. “I write mysteries and thrillers. It’s a cold-case murder that is tied into a U.S. Senate race, so it’s a political thriller and murder mystery side-by-side.”

The store is open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
