Ryan Fanti signs pro contract with Edmonton Oilers

EDMONTON, AB. (KBJR) - Former UMD goaltender Ryan Fanti has signed a professional contract with the Edmonton Oilers organization.

It’s a two-year deal that starts in the 2022-23 season. Fanti will finish the remainder of the season with their AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors in California.

The 22-year-old Thunder Bay, Ontario native played two seasons as a starting netminder for UMD. In 37 appearances this season, he recorded a 1.83 goals-against-average and .929 save percentage. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound goalie finished with a 20-12-4 record and seven total shutouts.

Prior to playing at UMD, Fanti spent two seasons with the NAHL’s Minnesota WIlderness in Cloquet, appearing in 75 games with a 2.70 GAA and .917 SV%.
