SUPERIOR, WI -- Congressman Tom Tiffany said he plans to run again for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District.

Tiffany, a republican, shared that news following a listening session with constituents in Superior Friday morning.

During that session, he answered questions from community members on topics ranging from the pandemic to Northwestern Wisconsin infrastructure to rising fuel prices.

As Wisconsinites face rising fuel costs, he advocates for U.S energy independence through things like pipelines that run through the Northland.

He also touched on President Joe Biden’s recent stop in Superior, saying while it was an honor to have a President visit his District, he was disappointed that things like pipelines, the Husky Refinery rebuild, or the Nemadji Trail Energy Center project were not brought up.

Representative Tiffany said America is going in the wrong direction and hopes to change the country’s course by staying in office.

“We need to fulfill the promise of freedom opportunity in America, and that does not lie in passing more bills and spending more money in Washington D.C.,” said Rep. Tiffany. “It is trusting people at the local level to make decisions that are best for them.”

He is currently serving his first term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Wisconsin democrats responded to Tiffany’s announcement Friday, attacking his voting record.

“Tom Tiffany has missed more votes than 96% of other House freshmen—and worse yet, when he does bother to show up for work, it’s to hurt his own constituents. Given Tom Tiffany’s votes against protections for our public lands, investments in our infrastructure, and COVID relief through the American Rescue Plan, Northwoods voters are wondering whether to be glad he so rarely does his job,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler said.

So far, no other candidates have publicly announced their campaigns for the 7th District seat.

Friday’s stop is just one of six Tiffany is making this week across the DistrictDistrict.

On Thursday, he was in Weston, Marshfield, and New Richmond.

And made final stops Friday in Superior, Ashland, and Rice Lake.
