Sen. David Tomassoni announces retirement amid ALS battle

CHISHOLM, MN-- After 30 years of service to the Iron Range, Minnesota Dist. 6 Senator David Tomassoni (I) announced he will not be running for re-election.
Sen. Tomassoni made that announcement Saturday in an article posted in the Mesabi Tribune.
The long time Minnesota Senator revealed he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) back in July.
Since then, he has continued serving his constituents, becoming a champion for ALS awareness.
He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1992. He was then elected to the Senate in 2000 and re-elected six times.
According to the article, he will continue to serve the rest of his term which is up January of 2023.
