Duluth house fire causes $80K in damage; fire crews plead with community to avoid active fire areas
DULUTH, MN-- Early Thursday morning a two-story home in Duluth was destroyed by a fire.
Duluth Fire Department responded to the 700 block of West 4th Street where they saw heavy smoke from the rear of the two-story single-family home.
Fire crews reported heavy fire above the ceiling of an addition to the rear of the main level of the home.
The homeowners were able to evacuate safely.
Due to the incredible amount of water used on the fire, officials estimate nearly $80,000 in damages.
Officials say the building is saved, but not habitable at this time.
The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical heating component.
Additionally, the Duluth Fire Department is asking people not to drive over the water lines when fire crews are battling flames, it puts holes in the water line making for a difficult operation.
They ask that you find a different route during fire activity.
