Missing Superior man later found dead in Washburn Township

DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - A search was conducted after a Superior, WI person went missing last Friday.
Arik Askelin, 30, was said to of gone missing Jan. 7 and last seen driving a 2006 Chevrolet Suburban.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office told Bayfield County officials they believe Askelin was in Bayfield County.
The suburban Askelin was connected to was found the next day stuck in snow along a U.S. Forest trail in the township of Washburn.
Officials found Askelin deceased approximately 1 mile away from the unoccupied vehicle, in the woods.
Authorities say foul play was not suspected.
