Funeral set for Itasca County deputy who died of COVID

MARCELL, MN -- Funeral services have been set for the Itasca County Sheriff’s deputy who died of COVID-19.

Deputy Jayme Williams, 41, died Monday after several weeks in the hospital, including the intensive care unit.

The community is invited to his visitation at 10 a.m. Friday, December 31 at the Marcell Community Center in Marcell, MN.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.

Itasca County leaders say Williams will always be remembered for his kindness and his fairness to the community.

He leaves behind a wife and three children.

ITASCA COUNTY, MN -- Family members say an Itasca County Sheriff’s Deputy has died of COVID-19.

According to a GoFundMe page, Jayme Williams, 41, got sick with COVID on Dec 11.

He stayed home recovering, but kept getting more and more sick as the days went on.

On December 15, he was hospitalized in Deer River. The next day, Williams was transferred to an ICU bed in Virginia.

He died on December 27.

He leaves behind his wife and three kids.

We reached out to the Itasca County, which was not immediately able to comment.
