DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - An annual Northland Christmas tradition is making its in-person return this year.

KBJR 6 will be putting on the 63rd Christmas City of the North Parade on Friday, November 19th starting at 6:30 p.m.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic health and safety protocols, the parade was moved to Harbor Drive in 2020. There were no spectators allowed, and many group performances were pre-recorded to limit exposure.

This year the parade will be back along Superior Street for the first time since 2019. The route starts near Fitger’s and extends through downtown Duluth.

People are welcome to come down and enjoy the parade in person once again.

The parade will also be broadcast live on KBJR 6 starting at 6:30 p.m.

This year the parade will be honoring essential workers that have made a difference in the community.

KBJR 6 is asking people to nominate a worker who has gone above and beyond during the pandemic.

Nominations can be anyone from nurses, doctors, grocery store employees, mail carriers and more.

The group of selected essential workers will make up this year’s grand marshal group and walk in the parade.
